Star Student
Dear Parents, Your child will be assigned a week in which he/she will be the “Star of the Week”. This will be the classes’ chance to get to know your child better. It is also your child’s time to shine!
I will be the first Star so the children will have an example of things to bring in for their week. Some examples of items include: pictures, stuffed animals, pictures, awards, knick knacks. I will pin the pictures to a bulletin board so please let me know if you do not want pin holes in your pictures! (I will make sure to display those ones differently)
The star student schedule is spread out throughout the entire school year and may vary. I have also scheduled "make up" weeks for students that may have missed their week.
Monday - Poster
Prior to your week your child will get a poster to complete over the weekend. You may fill it with pictures, drawings, hobbies, stickers, crafts, or anything that represents the Star Student. On Monday you will share the poster with the class and hang it on our wall for the week.
Tuesday - Favorite Book
The Star Student brings a favorite picture book from home for me to read in front of the class. The book should take no longer than ten minutes.
Wednesday- Sit in the Teacher's chair
Thursday - Show and Tell
Please help your child collect a special item from home to "show and tell" in front of the class. Try to encourage your child to choose an item that has some sort of meaning rather than just a collection of toys.
Friday - Lunch with Mrs Madsen
The Star Student gets to eat with Mrs Madsen and one other friend in the classroom. Even the shyest students enjoy special small-group attention from the teacher!
